Go AI keeps getting stronger and stronger. KataGo already defeated pro players giving three (!) handicap stones, showing that it might be the strongest Go teacher in the world.
The only problem is that it cannot explain why a move was good or bad, so especially weaker players might struggle to understand some of the analysis.
We have been thinking for a while now how to make AI reviews easier to understand for humans, and we got some pretty exciting ideas. Today, we take a first step in that direction and start showing stone emojis in some that can explain some errors:

Because of black 19, black's stone on the second line will die, so we show a (very) sad face. Because of this mistake, the white stones are much stronger now than if black had played correctly at A, so they are (slightly and quite) happy about this move.
We hope you will find these visual cues helpful and enjoyable!
