Last week, KataGo released a major new neural network design based on transformers, using the same architecture that powers ChatGPT and other large language models. It turns out to work very well for Go, too (see this article).
AI Sensei's servers have already been updated to use KataGo's strongest transformer network, while keeping the same number of playouts at every quality level. The result is significantly stronger analysis across all membership plans, at essentially the same analysis speed, with fewer misreads in complicated fights.
